A local Halifax restaurant had a completely unexpected run-in with the Halifax Regional Police Thursday morning.

It was all over a mannequin posed at one of the tables at the Ardmore Tea Room that was accidentally mistaken for a person illegally dining indoors, which prompted someone to call the cops.

"We did receive a call this morning at approximately 10 a.m. to go to that location," Cst. John MacLeod told Narcity. "The information was that individuals were not following public health directives."

Once police found there were no rules violated, they left.

The current COVID-19 restrictions in Halifax prohibit in-door dining at restaurants, and allow only take-out, delivery and drive-thru services at this time. Mannequins, however, are fine to dine out.
