There's A Recall For Counterfeit Hand Sanitizer That Was Sold In Canada

The differences between the fake and real sanitizer are pretty obvious.

Take note! A hand sanitizer recall has been issued in Canada and one product that was sold here was revealed to be a fake.

Health Canada is warning everyone about counterfeit Zytec Germ Buster Hand Sanitizer that comes in a one-litre bottle.

That's because Northern National Sales Inc., the distributor of it, was found to be selling a fake version of the Zytec Germ Buster that is authorized by Health Canada.

The counterfeit sanitizer is packaged in a one-litre bottle with a black and white label that has the same name, National Producer Number and lot number as the legitimate product.

The distributor has recalled that version.

With the authorized Zytec Germ Buster Hand Sanitizer, it has a colour label with the lot number 3329733126 and national producer number (NPN) 80015625.

It's also only available in a 3.78L format.

Health Canada is warning about this because counterfeit products might have ingredients that aren't listed on the label, dangerous additives and contaminants.

Since the fake Zytec Germ Buster Hand Sanitizer is unauthorized, there could be ingredients in it that are not listed.

That means it might pose a serious health risk and not be effective at killing germs, bacteria and viruses.

If you have this counterfeit product, you should stop using it right away.

According to Zytec Germ Buster, the fake sanitizer was found being sold in mid-July and it was immediately brought to Health Canada's attention.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, lots of hand sanitizers have been recalled for similar reasons.
