IHOP has tragically canceled its iconic National Pancake Day this year, but we know how you can still get a free short stack to make up for it.

Because the eatery's annual one-day celebration has been put on hold due to COVID-19, IHOP is having an "IOU" event throughout the month of April.

Rather than a chance at free pancakes on just one day of the year, IHOP is flipping it into a month-long event by issuing coupons for a free short stack of their signature buttermilk pancakes.

"We recognize it’s not possible to gather millions of our closest family and friends in our restaurants on a single day this year," said IHOP's president, Jay Johns.

"As a result, we decided to flip National Pancake Day on its head and give our guests an entire month to redeem their free Short Stack with an IOU."

To claim your free pancakes, simply register for MyHOP by March 31 and you'll get an IOU coupon good for a short stack starting on April 1.

Once you have your coupon, you can use it in-restaurant or for to-go orders via IHOP.com or the IHOP Mobile App.

Despite the pandemic, IHOP is working hard to fulfill the promise of its iconic slogan — "Come hungry. Leave happy."
