After Toronto Raptors superfan Nav Bhatia was honoured at the Basketball Hall of Fame, Jagmeet Singh opened up on Twitter about how it's "a reminder to be proud of who you are."

Bhatia tweeted that as a kid he told his mom he would never remove his turban, which is a "crown" he wears every day, and Singh responded.

The NDP leader called Bhatia's story about his turban "heartwarming" and said it shows kids who struggle with their identity to embrace it and recognize their self-worth.

"Always remember that you are inherently beautiful," Singh said.

Back in 2020, Singh shared that one of the reasons Sikhs wear a Dastaar is that it "represents a beacon" and someone wearing it will help you when you find them in your time of need.
