8 Breathtaking Places To Discover Around Jasper Before It's Winter Again

Alberta has some of the best hidden gems in Canada. From snowy mountain top views to some of the more vibrantly blue lakes around, Jasper has it all. There are so many Jasper hidden gems you need to visit before the snow hits. Somehow, we managed to narrow it down to eight hot-spots.

Jasper is known by many as being the place to go when visiting Alberta.

Editor's Choice: The Canada-US Border Closure Has Been Extended Until September 21

We came up with eight locations around Jasper that you need to hit up next time you’re in town. Or, you might even make the trip just to see these babies in person.

Whether you're from Alberta or you're visiting from elsewhere, these places will give you the iconic postcard views that you’ve been seeing on your Instagram explore page.

These eight iconic hidden gems are best to do when the sun is shining and the water is nice and refreshing.

So find your hiking shoes, a bathing suit, and pack a few snacks because these are your end of summer bucket list activities.

It may still be hot out but it won’t be for long, so enjoy the outdoors while you still can.

Beauty Creek

Why You Need To Go: This 1.6-kilometre hike will have you walking along the creek that will flow into several small waterfalls. The main attraction is Stanley Waterfalls which is the biggest one of the series. You’ll definitely want to stop here to take pictures.

Jasper National Park Dark Sky Preserve

Why You Need To Go: One of the best stargazing spots in the province is right in Jasper. Due to the minimal light pollution, you can see the stars anywhere, but at the preserve, you’ll get once in a lifetime views.

The Athabasca Glacier

Why You Need To Go: This is an iconic walk in Jasper and it's something that needs to be added to the bucket list. The guided tour will take you along a five-kilometre path where you'll get hands-on experience with some of the largest glaciers in Alberta.

Opal Hills Loop

Why You Need To Go: An eight-kilometre loop around Jasper is the best chance you have to see wildlife. It's rated as difficult so if you’re a beginner hiker, this may not be for you. The views are a mixture of mountain tops and lush forest so it’s the best of everything.

Pyramid Lake Island

Why You Need To Go: This easy hike will take you to one of the most beautiful spots in Jasper. Equipped with a sandy beach that's got swimming, boat rentals, and hiking trails, what more could you need?

Valley Of The Five Lakes

Why You Need To Go: Yes, you'll see five lakes along this trail and yes, each one is better than the last. The four-kilometre hike has some of the most turquoise blue lakes that are begging to be explored. You'll definitely want to dip your feet in.

Maligne Canyon

Why You Need To Go: You get to experience some of Jaspers's natural wonders from six different bridges. We hope you like waterfalls because you'll see tons of them on this trail.

Horseshoe Lake

Why You Need To Go: If you’re looking for a cute little swimming hole then we got you covered. Horseshoe Lake has some of the clearest water and it’s literally begging for you to jump in.

We strongly advise that before you go swimming or visit any location, you check the most recent updates on potential hazards, security, water quality, and closures. If you do plan to visit a location, respect the environment.
