Wellness Check Goes Horribly Wrong After Officer Drags UBCO Student By Her Hair (VIDEO)
A wellness check for a B.C. student took a turn and the video may shock you. A student named Mona Wang in Kelowna, B.C. is suing RCMP for an alleged assault that took place during a police wellness check on January 20, 2020. Videos captured in her apartment building's lobby and hallways have emerged as part of the Kelowna assault civil lawsuit.

Videos of the incident have been sent to Narcity by Wang's lawyer, Michael Patterson.
According to Global News, the suit claims that Wang's boyfriend found her to be in a state of mental distress on January 20, so he dialled 911 and asked for a wellness check.
Constable Lacey Browning of RCMP responded to the call and arrived at Wang's residence. The officer spotted Wang lying on her bathroom floor, seemingly unconscious.
The lawsuit goes on to allege that Browning didn't check to see if Wang needed medical help. The constable asked Wang to stand up but she couldn't.
The lawsuit states, per Global, that "Browning proceeded to assault the plaintiff by stepping on the plaintiff’s arm. [...] Browning kicked the plaintiff in the stomach while the plaintiff was lying on the bathroom floor semi-conscious."
In the videos released, the RCMP officer is seen dragging Wang out of her apartment and through the building hallway.
The officer lays Wang down in the building lobby and appears to speak into her radio.
The two of them wait in the lobby for the majority of the video and Browning is seen speaking to Wang throughout. No audio has been provided for the footage.
At some point, she appears to pull Wang by her hair and is putting her foot against Wang's neck and back. After a while, the officer pulls Wang to her feet and takes her outside.
CTV News reported that the whole incident left injuries on Wang's face, upper thigh, right breast, sternum, and forearms. The claim also said that Browning punched Wang while taking her downstairs.
None of the claims mentioned in the lawsuit have been proved yet in the court, specifies CTV.
CBC News stated that Browning did not tell Wang why she was in detainment. Afterwards, Wang was taken to the Kelowna General Hospital.
Browning claimed that force was necessary in this case and that Wang was holding a knife in her apartment. The officer reportedly spotted cuts on Wang's arms during the wellness check.
