I tried Mr. Beast's new chocolate bars in Canada — at least they’re better than his burger

I wouldn't buy them again, tbh!

Mr. Beast and Loblaws have teamed up to bring his Feastables chocolate bars to Canada, and yes, you read that sentence correctly.

I stopped by my local Loblaws in the West End of Toronto to grab the treat and give them a test, and while I was there, I found a sign informing me that Feastables are part of Loblaws' "hit of the month" roster, meaning the 60-gram chocolate bar is on sale for $3.00 each instead of its regular price tag of $3.99 (however that deal only works if you buy up to eight of them, any more than that will cost you the full price).

"Hit of the Month is one of Loblaw’s biggest promotions to date, providing Canadians with the lowest possible price and best value on a variety of everyday essentials each month - and what better way to do that than with the world’s most followed YouTube star, Mr. Beast," said a release from Loblaws.

"Always looking for new and exciting ways to surprise and delight customers, the bars are sure to be a hit, so get them at this amazing price while you can!"

I picked up the popular YouTuber's Feastables in Milk Chocolate, Milk Chocolate Crunch, Peanut Butter and Dark Chocolate to see if they're worth the hype and here's how it all went down.

Mr. Beast's Feastables Milk Chocolate is perfectly fine... but it's not great.

For milk chocolate, it's a bit too sweet and in terms of texture, it doesn't melt in the mouth as nicely as other brands do and has a bit of an artificial taste.

This chocolate kind of reminds me of how Dollarama chocolate tastes — you know those little round chocolate balls you can get around Halloween that come in a plastic mesh bag? This chocolate tastes like that. I'll eat it if it's there, but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it.

I love peanut butter and chocolate so I was excited to give this a try, and once again, it's fine but not great.

Unlike Reese's where the peanut butter filling is more of a solid, this appears to just be straight peanut butter in between layers of chocolate.

While I could absolutely demolish an entire sleeve of three Reese's Pieces, I could probably eat about one-quarter of Mr. Beast's peanut butter bar before finding it to be too much and too sweet.

I'd rather just take some Cadbury Dairy Milk and dunk it in some Kraft!

Mr. Beast Feastables Milk Crunch

Mr. Beast's Feastables Milk Crunch is a chocolate bar with puffed rice in it, which makes for an interesting texture when you bite into it, but I struggle to see how it's any different than a Crunch bar.

Out of all the bars I tried, this seemed like the most novel one but that's likely because Crunch bars are a bit hard to find in Canada in general, and I ended up eating most of this bar throughout the day.

Mr. Beast Feastables Dark Chocolate

Given how meh I felt about the other three chocolate bars, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I really enjoyed the flavour and texture of the Feastables dark chocolate.

It's rich and melts nicely in the mouth, and I'd say it's of a similar quality to my favourite grocery store dark chocolate, which is Cadbury Dairy Milk.

The verdict

I think all of the chocolate bars are fine (and the dark chocolate bar is actually pretty good), but what I struggle with is the price.

The Feastables bars are all 60 grams in weight and cost $3.99 before the sale price at Loblaws.

For a Cadbury Milk Chocolate bar that's 100 grams, it'll cost you $2.79 at Loblaws, while a Lindt Swiss Classic Milk Chocolate bar that's also 100 grams costs $3.49.

That means that Mr. Beast's bars are pricier for less product, and honestly, the chocolate isn't superior or even on par with Carbury or Lindt for the most part.

If I was in desperate need of chocolate and my only option was Feastables, I wouldn't mind eating it, but for the price and quality, I'd pick a different option if possible.

That being said, at least the Feastables chocolate bars are edible — the YouTuber ran into some trouble a few months ago with the MrBeast Burger which was sold via ghost kitchens from Virtual Dining Concepts.

On social media, users blasted the burger, with one showing images of undercooked beef in his order.

"Getting raw meat in these burgers is becoming a common occurrence which is a HUGE issue," said the user. This is from my burger which I was about to eat an hour ago. Money wasted and a huge shame."

According to The Guardian, the social media star is suing the company behind the chain for having “irreparably harmed” his reputation by creating “inedible” and low-quality food.

In a tweet that has since been deleted, Mr. Beast said on X, “Yeah, the problem with Beast Burger is I can’t guarantee the quality of the order. When working with other restaurants it’s impossible to control it sadly."

"Virtual Dining Concepts was more focused on rapidly expanding the business as a way to pitch the virtual restaurant model to other celebrities for its own benefit, it was not focused on controlling the quality of the MrBeast Burger customer experience and products," says the lawsuit.

According to Variety, Virtual Dining Concepts and Celebrity Virtual Dining (VDC) are suing the YouTuber and Beast Investments.

"This case is about a social media celebrity who believes his fame means that his word does not matter, that the facts do not matter, and that he can renege and breach his contractual obligations without consequence," says the lawsuit, as per Variety. “He is mistaken.”

These prices are confirmed at the time of publishing, but they can change at any time. Taxes and fees may not be included.
