These high-paying jobs offer up to $201,000 a year, and you don't need a degree or experience.

Air traffic controllers are responsible for coordinating safe, efficient and orderly air traffic across Canada.

NAV Canada is looking to hire Area Controllers and Tower Controllers.

Air Controllers — also known as IFR (instrument flight rules) Controllers — work at area control centres that are responsible for air traffic in Canadian airspace.

Those centres are in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, Moncton, and Gander.

Tower Controllers — also known as VFR (visual flight rules) Controllers — work in airports across Canada and use radio communication to issue instructions and clearances.

There are 42 airports that NAV Canada operates at, including Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Whitehorse, Calgary, Edmonton, Yellowknife, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, and St. John's.

If you're going to apply to work as an air traffic controller, you must meet these basic requirements:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • have a high school diploma or its equivalency
  • be able to undergo a medical check, security check, and drug testing
  • be able to attend training
  • be willing to relocate to any of the NAV Canada locations

Also, you must have communication skills, memorization skills, problem-solving and decision-making abilities, and the ability to multi-task.

You don't need any training or experience to get hired.

Training is paid for and provided by NAV Canada at area control centres in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, Moncton, and Gander.

Area Controller training includes three phases and lasts between 20 and 27 months.

You get paid $56,899 to $59,550 during training. Then, the salary is $139,333 to $201,407 once you start the job.

Tower Controller training includes two phases and lasts from 12 to 27 months.

You make $56,899 to $59,550 during training. Then, the salary is $101,221 to $201,407 when you start working.

Controllers will also get additional premiums between $5,290 and $51,318 a year!
