Bring on the protein shakes and muscle aches -- Ontario gyms are reopening. Ontarians were seen flocking to their local fitness spots on Friday after months of closures. It won’t be business as usual, though, as gym-goers will have to follow strict guidelines to squeeze in a workout.

Ontario entered stage three of its reopening plan on July 24, which allows residents to visit dine-in restaurants, bars, movie theatres, and gyms.

However, indoor gatherings are limited to 50 people, so if you’d like to work out, you may have to make a reservation.

Goodlife Fitness reached out to their customers earlier this week, reminding them to book their workouts in advance through their website or app.

The health club has installed protective barriers to help customers social distance. They've also stepped up their cleaning and sanitation practices.

It’s also worth noting that you will need to wear a mask during your work out under Ontario’s new mandatory by-law.

Carl Hanstke of 680News shared a video this morning of eager early risers ready to get their workout in at a Markham LA Fitness location.

GoodLife is among several other gyms to announce changes ahead of reopening.

Planet Fitness told Narcity earlier this month that employees will be conducting 20-minute walkarounds to clean and sanitize the facilities' high-touch areas.

Fitness centres in Hamilton, Durham, York, Halton, and several Niagara regions were allowed to open today as part of stage three.

Toronto, Windsor-Essex and Peel Region remain in stage two for the time being.
