It looks like the Canadian National Exhibition might have a helping hand.

In a press conference on Thursday, Premier Doug Ford stated that it was "critical" to help save the popular Toronto fair.

It’s critical we keep the CNE going.

The beloved event, which has operated annually since 1879, released a statement on Thursday warning it would have to shut down without government aide.

"I’m willing to help out if the city’s willing to help and the feds are willing to help out, we can all pitch in," Ford said.

"Every single one of us, old guys like myself, remember going down to the CNE with five or ten dollars, and you'd be down there all day!"

"It was fun and we need to protect it," he said.
