The wait is nearly over! Gym lovers, it's time to rejoice because GoodLife Fitness is hoping to start opening its doors again in some parts of Ontario starting on June 29. The company issued an update by email to members on June 10 to announce the plan.

The email sent to members on Wednesday details three groups of reopenings in stages spanning from June 29 to July 13.

It should be noted that none of this is set in stone right now as this timeline requires approval from the province.

"The Ontario government recently announced that it will adopt a regional approach to reopening based on key public health indicators in each of the province's 34 public health units, but has not yet communicated a firm reopening date for gyms," reads the message.

"For each grouping we have established a date when our clubs will be ready to reopen, pending direction from the provincial government," it continues.

As you might expect, there's some bad news for gym bunnies in the GTA. Torontonians will have to wait until July to get back to GoodLife.

Northern and eastern Ontario will be the first regions to see these gyms reopen in the province; they open on June 29.

On July 6, southwestern Ontario, excluding Windsor, will be next to reopen.

The GTA, Halton region, the remainder of the Golden Horseshoe, and Windsor will be the last areas, with a pencilled-in date of July 13.

That projected timeline largely falls in with the province's wider framework.

On Monday, much of Ontario moved into what's being termed "stage two" of its reopening and recovery process. That excluded the GTHA, the Windsor area, and some other regions.

The province also announced that the group gathering limit will be raised from five to 10 people starting June 12.

It's not yet clear exactly how that will play out in gyms, but GoodLife has already stated it will require members to book one-hour time slots.

This will essentially help each location's capacity limit and also promote physical distancing between members and staff.

Responses from the fitness centre's GoodLife Member Care Twitter account to customers' questions note some more details.

For instance, members will be able to start booking their workouts seven days in advance of their local club's reopening date.

GoodLife had already announced its gyms in P.E.I., B.C., and New Brunswick would be reopening this month, in the week leading up to June 22.
