It's time to grab your sunscreen! This weekend is going to be a scorcher, with temperatures feeling as hot as 40 C. The steamy weather comes as an Ontario heat dome makes its way into the province.

According to The Weather Network, Ontario will be feeling the heat thanks to a "heat dome" that is currently in the United States.

The weather phenomenon acts like a "cap" that will trap in heat and cause surface temperatures to skyrocket.

Ontarians will be able to feel the effects of this dome on Saturday and into early next week.

At the start of the weekend, those in the southern parts of the province can expect to see temperatures rise to the mid-30s.

However, it is expected to get even worse by Sunday, where it will feel like over 40 C in some areas.

In fact, Toronto is forecasted to feel like a muggy 42 C by Monday.

So, if you were planning on doing anything outdoors this weekend, make sure to pack an extra bottle of water and some sunscreen.

However, you won't have to be dealing with the heat for long.

According to TWN, stormy weather will move into the province for Monday and will bring a nice break to the humidity.

Risks of thunderstorms will bring 15 to 20 millimetres of rain into the 6ix.

By Tuesday, temperatures in Toronto will drop to 28 C and will remain in the high-20s for the rest of the week.

After facing 40 C heatwaves over the past few weeks, this will bring a nice relief to Ontarians who still don't have their ACs installed.

The month of July has brought some muggy heat this year.

It has been so hot that parts of Ontario were even on their way to breaking records
