Wearing a mask has become almost second nature in a pretty short amount of time. Walmart Canada's mask rule probably doesn't come as much of a surprise. The company will now require them in all of their stores, regardless of local laws.

In an email to Narcity, a Walmart Canada spokesperson said that starting on August 12, all customers and employees in stores not already under local mandates will be required to wear masks at all times.

This means that even if you're in an area where indoor face coverings are not required, you'll still have to wear one if you're planning to shop at Walmart.

The spokesperson also noted that over 60% of the more than 400 Canadian locations were already in regions where face masks are required in any public indoor space.

"Customers have done a great job following face covering requirements in those jurisdictions where it is mandated by the local government," they said.

"We trust that customers in the rest of our stores where we are initiating this the policy will respect and follow it and will bring their own face coverings when they shop."

This latest corporate mandate will join other safety measures that Walmart is taking in its locations.

Those include limiting the number of customers, taking employee temperatures before each shift, and enhanced cleaning and sanitizing procedures.

Cities across Canada have made face coverings mandatory in public spaces, with Edmonton being one of the most recent to do so.

Mask vending machines have even begun cropping up around Toronto, providing opportunities for people who might have forgotten theirs at home to grab one on the go.

Still, some people are not getting on board with mask laws as easily as others. An Alberta man's racist rant about wearing one in a liquor store was recently caught on video.
