Looking for a last-minute summer escape? This Ontario gem boasts white sand shores and lakeside charm and is currently one of the hottest destinations in the country.

In a press release, Airbnb shared the "top trending Canadian beach destinations to beat the end-of-summer heat," highlighting areas from coast to coast that are seeing a surge in booking interest.

The top trending destinations were selected based on searches made in Q1 2025 for June 20 to September 22, 2025, compared with searches made in Q1 2024 for the same period.

Port Colbourne is one of the destinations Canadians are searching for right now, and with its beautiful shores and beaches, it's no surprise locals are picking this spot for a last-minute summer escape.

According to Airbnb, "Port Colborne is gaining traction with travellers looking for a quieter, more local beach escape in southern Ontario."

Perched along the shores of Lake Erie, the destination is known for its rich marine heritage and beautiful Welland Canal.

It's home to two scenic beaches — Centennial-Cedar Bay Beach and Nickel Beach. Cedar Bay Beach offers two outdoor picnic pavilions, tennis courts, and more, while Nickel Beach is home to "pristine sandy shores, crystal-clear waters, and stunning views of Lake Erie," according to the Port Colborne website.

Aside from its beaches, Port Colborne offers beautiful trails and parks to explore, as well as charming local shops, eateries, and more dotted along its streets.

"With its sandy beaches, canal-side charm and easy access to the Friendship Trail, Airbnb Guests are booking everything from breezy lakefront cottages to modern stays steps from Nickel Beach," Airbnb says.

If you're planning a last-minute escape, this Ontario spot is one of the top trending beach destinations in the country.
