This spot offers scenic hiking trails, gorgeous swimming opportunities and unique adventures, making it an idyllic place for a summer day trip.
Point Pelee National Park is a stunning hidden gem where beach days feel like a coastal escape. Located at the southernmost tip of mainland Canada, it's home to a "jungle-like forest" and "smooth sand" beaches.
It offers 20 kilometres of silky sand shoreline, much of it along Lake Erie, which is known for its beautiful, warm waters. Northwest Beach and West Beach are two of the park's most popular beaches, equipped with bathrooms, change rooms, and picnic areas.
While you're in the park, you'll want to visit "the Tip," which is the southernmost point of mainland Canada. You can wander along the sandy ribbon and gaze over the waters beyond. Swimming at the Tip is prohibited.
You can also enjoy some of the park's trails. There are over 12 kilometres of pathways complete with floating boardwalks, observation towers and more.
Other activities at Point Pelee include paddling, stargazing, bird-watching, cycling, and camping.
