If you envision spending your late-summer days relaxing in a dreamy, coastal destination, you'll want to plan a trip to this charming Ontario town. With majestic lighthouses, sandy beaches and cozy shops, it's like a mini trip to Cape Cod without leaving the province.

You can enjoy sun-filled days on the beach, meals on scenic patios, and beautiful, East Coast vibes, perfect for an end-of-summer escape.

Southampton is a charming lakeside town perched along the shining shores of Lake Huron.

While it may not be located by the sea, Bruce County says that "the town has a definite maritime feeling, with its old cottages, a fine sand beach and tasteful shops." Its beautiful shores, historic lighthouse and colourful shops will whisk you away to the quaint streets of Cape Cod.

According to the town's website, it's home to "unspoiled white sand beaches," with the Main beach boasting "views that rival any tropical coast."

You can lounge on the powdery sand and take a dip in the sparkling waters before the autumn chill sets in.

Cozy shops, art galleries, and cafes line the lakeside streets, as well as quaint ice cream parlours, bakeries and scenic patios where you can grab a bite to eat.

For some major Cape Cod vibes, you can take a trip to Chantry Island Lighthouse, a historic landmark built in 1859, accessible by boat tour. The lighthouse is situated just a kilometre from the beach, allowing you to enjoy some East Coast-like views as you lounge on the shores.

You'll also want to enjoy some classic beach-town strolls along the boardwalk and lakeside trails, where you can enjoy breezy, nautical charm.

Southampton is dotted with quaint inns and cottages where you can book a weekend getaway, adding to the New England seaside feel.

The region is renowned for its sunsets, so an evening beach stroll is a must-do while visiting this spot.

If you're dreaming of a late summer escape, this beautiful small town with seaside vibes is worth a road trip.
