You don't need to fly to California to find rolling vineyards, coastal views and beautiful wineries. This Ontario destination is like a mini Napa Valley and offers a mix of boozy sips, charming towns, and picturesque wine-country vibes — no passport required.

Ontario's Lake Erie North Shore wine region is a dreamy spot to visit if you're craving a California getaway.

According to Destination Ontario, California's Napa Valley, France's Bordeaux region, Italy's Tuscany, and Ontario's Essex-Pelee Island Coast are all located along the same latitude and offer award-winning wines.

As Canada's southernmost region, the Essex Pelee Island Coast boasts the country's oldest commercial vineyards, with a winemaking history that dates back to 1866.

If you're looking for boozy experiences, you can spend your getaway exploring the many wineries in the region. Some top spots include Sprucewood Shores, Oxley Estate Winery, Colchester Ridge Estate Winery, and North 42 Estate Winery.

The EPIC Passport lets you explore the area's wineries and enjoy complimentary tastings and samples.

Aside from enjoying wine country, you can head to some of Windsor-Essex's cute small towns and communities.

Amherstburg will transport you back in time with its historic streets and gorgeous water views, while Kingsville has cozy small-town vibes and breweries.

Other highlights of the area include Pelee Island, Point Pelee National Park, Holiday Beach Conservation Area, and Fort Malden National Historic Site.

With rolling vineyards, a sparkling coastline and dreamy wineries, this spot is a little slice of California right here in Ontario.
