This Ontario destination has no shortage of sweetness. With endless sugar bush trails, maple farms and festivals, it's a Canadian dream come true.

Lanark County is the "Maple Syrup Capital of Ontario," and it's a magical place to visit during the spring.

The region boasts over 400 maple syrup producers and is "the absolute best place to experience the sweetness of the maple syrup season," according to Discover Lanark County.

Maple season typically begins in mid-February and runs through early April, and it's the sweetest time to visit the region.

On April 5 and 6, 2025, you can enjoy Maple Weekend, which features free syrup samples, pancake breakfasts, taffy on snow, horse-drawn wagon rides and more.

You can find more maple-themed fun at the Festival of Maples in Perth, taking place on April 26, 2025.

Other maple highlights of Lanark County include Wheelers Maple Heritage Museum, pancake houses, sugar bush trails and maple taffy.

There's even a Maple Trail that leads to maple producers and tasty treats throughout the region, such as Fulton's Sugar Bush & Maple Shop.

In addition to maple fun, Lanark County boasts charming small towns and villages waiting to be explored.

According to Destination Ontario, it's "home to some of the oldest and prettiest towns in Canada, such as Almonte in Mississippi Mills, Perth and Smith Falls."

You can explore storybook streets and enjoy local shops, eateries and more while visiting these dreamy destinations.

If you're planning a spring outing, Ontario's "Maple Syrup Capital" is filled with sweet adventures and fairytale towns.
