It will transport you back in time.

A small town in Ontario.
Nestled along a winding river in Ontario, this charming little town looks like it belongs on a postcard — and it's been named one of the prettiest in all of Canada.
With quaint streets, a relaxed atmosphere and scenic hikes, it's a charming spot to spend a day or weekend.
On Narcity Canada's Facebook page, we asked readers for their thoughts on the prettiest small towns in Canada, and this Ontario gem was among the spots mentioned.
Pakenham is a small, lesser-known destination located along the Mississippi River in picturesque Lanark County. Here you'll find cute local shops, old-world streets and river views that feel like they were plucked from a storybook.
The town is known for its historic Five Span Bridge, a picturesque landmark that is the only one of its kind in North America. Originally built in 1903 by Scottish Stone Masons, it served as a way for horses and carriages to cross the river. The bridge arches over the cascading water, making it a beautiful spot to soak up some views.
You'll also want to stop by the 1840s General Store & Bakery, which is said to be the longest-running general store in North America. Inside, you'll discover everything from freshly baked bread to specialty coffees and candles.
Other spots to check out include Cartwright Springs Brewery and Scoops ice cream shop.
Pakenham has some beautiful trails to enjoy, so you'll want to bring comfortable footwear. The Ottawa Valley Rail Trail offers stunning views and year-round beauty. You can also explore the High Lonesome Nature Reserve, which features lush, forested trails and wildlife.
If you have a sweet tooth, don't miss out on a stop at Fulton's Sugar Bush and Maple Shop. It's a quintessential Canadian experience complete with gourmet maple treats and outdoor adventures.
With its old-world charm and beautiful surroundings, it's no surprise locals say Pakenham is one of Canada's "prettiest" towns to visit.
