The Largest Shark That Ever Lived Is Coming Back To Florida Soon

Fish are friends, not food!🦈
Contributor

Florida’s waters are still teeming with modern-day dinosaurs, from ancient deep-sea creatures that we barely ever see, to marine life that humans still contend with on the surface. Sharks are common neighbors in Florida, and if you’re a frequent beachgoer, chances are you’ve at least seen one from the safety of the shore before. Now, the largest shark that ever lived is returning to Florida through a Megalodon exhibit in Gainesville!

Megalodon easily dwarfs most of the common shark species that populate Florida’s waters today, but thankfully, this one will be staying far away from your favorite beaches. This touring exhibit has been showing off this prehistoric phenomenon all across the U.S., and you’ll be able to catch in Florida this month.

Found at the Florida Museum of Natural History, the exhibit will be on display beginning September 19, 2020 through January 10, 2021.

There, you’ll witness live-scale models of this ancient predator, as well as modern ones. You’ll learn all about how scientific discoveries today continue to teach us more about the marine life of long ago.

You’ll walk through a 60-foot replica of the shark, examine jaw models, learn about their diet, evolution, and eventual extinction.

The chance to see actual Megalodon fossils at this exhibit is a must for ocean-lovers.

Admission for adults is $8 and just $7 for Florida residents. You can bring your younger shark-lovers for $5.50.
