Be careful, movie-lovers! An Ottawa Cineplex has shut down after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. The company confirmed the temporary closure on September 1.

Cineplex Cinemas Ottawa, located on 3090 Carling Avenue, will be temporarily shut for deep-cleaning and sanitization, the company confirmed.

August 29

The date the employee was last in the theatre

The chain says they’re also working with local health authorities to complete contact tracing, and all potentially-exposed staff members will be tested and self-isolating for the time being.

Cineplex says that they’re looking forward to reopening the venue “soon,” but are yet to confirm an exact date.

Locations across Canada reopened to the public last month.
