Describing the COVID-19 situation in Ontario as a "disaster," Jagmeet Singh is calling on the Prime Minister to step-in and take action.

The NDP leader took to Twitter to say Ontario Premier "Doug Ford's inaction is costing lives" and repeated his calls for paid sick leave in the province.

For the second time in a week, Singh asked Trudeau to declare a federal emergency in Canada, which would allow the feds to issue orders and reallocate funding quickly following a Parliamentary review.

Singh also shared a clip of him addressing Trudeau in the House of Commons. "The third wave of COVID-19 is hitting Ontario hard. It is a disaster," he told the PM.

He asked Trudeau to use the Emergencies Act to "make sure people who need the vaccine actually get it and make sure we've got a paid sick leave that actually works."

"The stakes could not be higher," the NDP leader concluded in a follow-up tweet.
