The 'Paris of North America' is a road trip from Toronto and it's full of European magic

No plane ticket needed!

Lead Writer, Travel

You don't need to board a plane in order to get a little taste of life in France. This enchanting destination is a road trip from Toronto and feels like a mini trip to Paris.

With cobblestone streets, historic buildings, cozy patisseries and more, you can bite into fluffy croissants and soak up those European vibes.

During the winter months, the area transforms into a snowy wonderland that's straight off a holiday postcard. In the summer, you can enjoy sun-filled markets and vibrant festivals.

Montreal, located about 5 to 6 hours from Toronto by car, is a dreamy destination dupe for France. According to Tourisme Montréal, the city is actually known as the "Paris of North America" due to its "North American comfort and European charm."

If you truly want to feel like you're on a European vacay, you'll want to spend some time in Old Montreal. This area of the city is brimming with winding, cobblestone streets, quaint shops and bakeries.

It's a gorgeous place to shop and enjoy an old-world atmosphere.

You can also check out Notre-Dame Basilica, which was modelled after the Gothic cathedrals in Europe. To add an extra touch of magic to your visit, you can attend the The AURA Experience which transforms the interior with glowing lights and sounds.

The open-air Jean Talon Market is another spot with Parisian feels, and you can find all sorts of local goods and produce here.

Paris is all about croissants, and Montreal has its fair share of delicious pastries as well. Spots like Automne, Pain dans les Voiles and Ô Petit Paris are a few spots known for their croissants.

It's also worth stopping by one of the Le Petit Dep locations for a cup of coffee with a side of European charm.

Enjoy a little piece of Paris in this enchanting city.
