Start packing! A low-cost Canadian airline is now offering travellers from Canada the chance to fly to two countries for the price of one.

Play Airlines, one of Canada's newest budget airlines that offers cheap flights to Europe, has announced that it is now offering stopovers in Iceland for no additional cost, allowing travellers to see two countries in one trip.

Travellers will be able to add a stopover of up to 10 days in Iceland before continuing on to their second European country.

According to the airline, the stopovers take advantage of Play's "hub-and-spoke" model -- all Play flights from Canada depart from John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport and transit through Iceland before continuing to the rest of their European destinations.

Now, rather than having a few hours layover, travellers can opt for a longer stay in Iceland and experience the country's incredible natural wonders, including waterfalls, geysers, hot springs like the Blue Lagoon, glaciers and the iconic northern lights.

How does a stopover work?

The stopover can be added to your outbound or return journey, or both. Travellers can stay in Iceland for up to 10 days on each leg of a stopover booking, according to Play.

To add a stopover to your trip, simply go to the Play Airlines website and input your trip details, including your departure city and final destination.

You'll then be prompted to add a stopover in Iceland at no extra cost to your trip. You can then choose which leg of the journey you want to add your stopover to, and select the date you want to fly to Iceland and the date you want to continue to your next destination.

You'll then choose your fare and book the rest of your flight details.

Where does Play fly from Toronto?

Play Airlines flies to 34 European cities from Canada, having most recently announced Split Croatia as its newest destination.

Other European destinations include Athens, Greece, Lisbon, Portugal, London, England, Paris, France and Barcelona, Spain.

Similar to other low-cost carriers, Play offers a streamlined, no-frills service without extras like Wi-Fi, entertainment or free meals, which it says allows travellers to "pay less and 'play more.'"

Instead of spending on these features, travellers are encouraged to use their travel budget on "the meaningful experiences, dining, and excursions that make a trip memorable."

Happy travels!
