Just a short drive from Toronto, you can discover a charming small town that's straight off a winter postcard. It's a magical spot to spend a day or weekend and offers beautiful scenery, quaint shops, eateries and more.

Port Hope is a picturesque small town perched along the shores of Lake Ontario, about an hour from Toronto. During the summer, the town comes alive with sun-filled streets and sandy beaches.

Winter offers a new kind of magic, where "snow-dusted streets, sparkling lights, and heartwarming seasonal events create a cozy escape filled with unforgettable memories," according to Port Hope Tourism.

You can spend some time exploring the Main Street, which is "filled to the brim with 19th century architecture and incredible stories."

According to Northumberland Tourism, it's the "best-preserved heritage main street in Ontario" and will transport you back in time.

There are lots of shops to explore, as well as cozy cafes such as Dreamer's Cafe and The Main where you can warm up with a hot drink.

There are several scenic trails with snowy views to explore, including the Waterfront Trail and The Ganaraska Trail.

For more fun activities, you can can catch a show at the Capitol Theatre or head to the nearby Haute Goat farm to visit some adorable animals.

With old world streets, quaint shops and more, Port Hope is a hidden winter gem.
