This elevated boardwalk near Toronto leads to a rare turquoise lake with stunning views

Crawford Lake Conservation Area, situated less than an hour from Toronto in Milton, is a gorgeous spot to visit.
The park boasts several scenic trails which take you through lush forests with stunning views and towering lookouts.
One unique trail to explore is the Crawford Lake Trail, a one-kilometre loop featuring an elevated boardwalk that meanders through leafy woodland.
The boardwalk takes you around a small but rare body of water known as a meromictic lake. This means its water layers remain separate and don't mix together. It's an unusual phenomenon, and only a few lakes like it exist in Canada.
The water is a stunning turquoise colour, and you'll want to take some time to admire the views.
The lake is just a five- to 10-minute walk from the parking lot and is classified as an easy hike, so you don't have to work up a sweat to enjoy this natural wonder.
Aside from trails, Crawford Lake is home to unique attractions such as the reconstructed 15th-century Longhouse Village, which gives a glimpse into the daily life of Indigenous people in the area over 600 years ago.
On select dates until April 6, the conservation area is hosting a maple festival with demonstrations and treats.
