Winning a jackpot worth over $650,000 is already a pretty special experience, but one lucky Blue Jays fan had an even bigger reason for celebrating his win.

Jeffrey, the winner of a 50/50 Blue Jays raffle, found out he had won the $654,535 jackpot on April 15 — exactly a year after being admitted to the ICU with COVID-19.

"The darkest day — a year ago today — I got up from sleeping and I said to Lori, 'I can't breathe, call 911,'" Jeffrey said. "And all I could think of was, 'I'm never going to see my family again.'"

"I'm a COVID survivor, a miracle COVID survivor," said Jeffrey, whose son Harrison asked staff to put on Blue Jays games in the ICU to help rouse Jeffrey from his coma. "I guess there's a reason why I fought so hard in the hospital."

"I've never won anything in my life, except my life," he said. "Now I've won something that I can always cherish as long as I live."
