Due to travel restrictions and fewer bookings, Air Transat has announced that their Toronto flights will now be cancelled for the remainder of the winter season.

The airline's marketing director Debbie Cabana confirmed the news to Narcity in an emailed statement.

"Continued travel restrictions and the numerous measures imposed by the federal government, including the requirement to present a negative COVID-19 test and to quarantine upon return to Canada, have had a significant impact on our bookings," said Cabana.

"We must, therefore, revise our winter flight schedule, as we have been doing since the beginning of the pandemic, based on the evolution of the situation and demand."

Caban said that this suspension will remain in place until April 30.

Air Transat will continue to operate flights from Montreal to six international destinations only.

These include Cancun (Mexico), Holguin (Cuba), Port-au-Prince (Haiti), Punta Cana and Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic), and Paris (France).

According to reports by Travel Pulse, anyone who has purchased a flight out of Toronto with Air Transat can expect a full refund.

The airline also slashed most of its winter getaway flights out of British Columbia and Alberta, citing similar reasons.
