Police are on the hunt for a 9-week-old puppy that was stolen from its owner at gunpoint on Wednesday.

According to a news release, the dog theft in Peel occurred around 5 p.m. when the owner met up with two suspects to sell the pup.

Once the victim approached the Lakeshore Road West and Lorne Park Road area in Mississauga, one of the suspects reportedly pulled out a gun.

The thieves demanded one of the two puppies that the owner currently had and took off with the 9-week-old Maltese Poodle.

A similar incident in York Region occurred just an hour before.

According to police, a woman who was trying to sell her puppy was assaulted by two suspects around 4 p.m., who grabbed her pet and fled.

The suspect was able to chase the thieves, who ended up throwing the dog out the window of their vehicle before leaving the scene.

It is still unknown if these two incidents are connected.

Peel Police are asking if you have information on the whereabouts of the Maltese Poodle to not approach the suspects and contact police.
