A Man In York Region Was Stabbed Over An Argument About His Dog Last Night

Police say the suspects had inquired about buying the dog.

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries on Wednesday night after becoming the victim of a violent altercation over the possible sale of his dog, police say.

According to York Regional Police (YRP), the incident occurred in the Glen Shields Avenue and Dufferin Street area in Vaughan at approximately 10:15 p.m. after two suspects showed up at the victim's house to inquire about purchasing the dog.

"Investigators believe that a dispute occurred and the male victim was stabbed," YRP said in a news release Thursday morning. A female victim was also assaulted and her phone was stolen.

The suspects, a man and a woman, fled the scene soon after without the dog. Thankfully, the pooch was not harmed.

The victim is expected to survive his injuries.

A description of the offenders has yet to be released, but anyone with any additional info or residential video surveillance is being asked to contact police at 1-866-876-5423. YRP has also urged the two suspects to "seek legal advice" and turn themselves in.
