Doug Ford gave residents a bit of hope on Thursday, stating that the chances of another Ontario lockdown are very slim.

During a press conference, the premier stated that he was 99% sure that the province will remain open during this reopening plan, and that no other shutdown will occur.

"Nothing in this pandemic is 100% but I'd be 99%," Doug Ford told reporters. "Everyone has worked hard. Health care folks worked hard, the people of Ontario, we just can't go back, we have to go forward. We just can't afford another lockdown."

Ford also hinted at the importance of "getting the economy going" again and stated that things will return back to a more normal.

"I have all the confidence in the world, we're going to go back to where we were before the pandemic."

On Friday, the province entered step three of the reopening plan. Residents will have to wait at least 21 days before moving out of the final step and entering a more normal world where "the vast majority of public health and workplace safety measures" will be lifted.
