Niagara Says It's One Of The Safest Places For Physically Distanced Vacations

It's time to explore! Niagara Region reopening includes a pledge to be one of the safest places for physically distanced vacations. That means lots of health and safety requirements are in place across the board.

Niagara is inviting visitors back to explore the region as it enters Stage 2 of Ontario's reopening plan. 

That includes taking a pledge to show just how serious every municipality in the region is about health and safety.

The Visitor Pledge is a commitment to making sure everyone who visits knows that there's a high level of dedication when it comes to health and safety as spaces reopen again.  

"Visitors can take comfort in understanding that Niagara is one of the safest destinations for socially-distanced vacations in the 'new normal' of travel," said Anthony Annunziata, president of the Tourism Partnership of Niagara, in a news release.

The region has planned to go above and beyond all the public health requirements set out in the reopening plans to not only protect visitors but workers and community members as well.

Those classic experiences like going to the Falls, shopping at boutique stores and wine tasting will be the same, just with added safety measures.

Fort Erie, Grimsby, Lincoln, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Niagara Falls, Pelham, Port Colborne, St. Catharines, Thorold, Wainfleet, Welland and West Lincoln are all part of this Region.

With 12 local municipalities here, there is so much to do now that Stage 2 has begun.

You can go on hikes through beautiful natural landscapes, visit botanical gardens, shop at boutique stores, zipline alongside the falls or visit wineries.

There are 468,000 acres of land to explore across the entire area.

More is on the horizon for the region including a new and unique tourist attraction at the Niagara Power Generating Station coming in the next two years.

Next summer, an immersive sound and light experience will open up to highlight the building's history and distinct architectural features.

In July 2022, you can explore the station's underground by going 200 feet down in a glass elevator.

Then you can wander through a huge, century-old tunnel that emerges right by the base of the falls!
