Boredom can take a hike! The trail capital of Canada exists in the province and it’s got everything you need to satisfy your wanderlust. The charming town is filled with 220 kilometres worth of winding Ontario hiking trails that will fill your soul with adventure so you’ll never be bored again.

So strap on your best boots and get ready to take the path less travelled.

Located roughly one hour outside of Toronto, Uxbridge, Ontario is filled with lush nature reserves, towering pine trees, and mini boardwalks for you to explore.

The town’s close proximity to the 6ix makes it the perfect day trip destination when your wanderlust is overwhelming.

You’ll see people travelling by foot, bike, and even horseback across the town’s expansive trail system.

It sounds like you could have a real hay day here.

One of the most scenic areas to explore, however, is the Uxbridge Countryside Preserve.

With 140 acres of rolling grassy hills, meadows, wetlands, and ponds, you’ll feel like you’re Bilbo Baggins strolling through the Shire here.

So if you’re ready to go on an adventure, why not plan a visit to the trail capital of Canada?

Another excellent hiking destination in Uxbridge is the Durham Forest.

The area features over 16 kilometres of trails in four loops, with various side trails throughout.

Sections of the winding boardwalk will lead you through a canopy of trees for one of the most peaceful hiking experiences.

The Trans Canada Trail also cuts through the town, allowing you to pass through a stunning urban area, eventually leading into Durham Forest and Glen Major Forest.

But, if you’re looking for something a little less ambitious, you can check out the 0.5-kilometre loop located in Elgin Park.

The easy-to-navigate asphalt path will leave you with views of whimsical woodlands and wetlands.

You can find a detailed list of available trails complete with helpful maps on the Uxbridge website

So come on boots, let’s start walking.
