One city is forced to shut down a popular attraction as residents refuse to listen to COVID-19 rules.

An Ontario skating rink was closed down on Monday after crowds of mask-less attendees flooded the ice on numerous occasions.

The City of Guelph announced via Twitter on December 21 that it would be closing down its Market Square Rink indefinitely.

The City, which cited violations of its COVID-19 by-laws for the closure, says the area will remain closed "until further notice."

"You're not going to like this. We don't either. We had to close the Market Square rink a few times this weekend due to overcrowding and some skaters not wearing masks. So it's gonna stay closed until further notice," read the Tweet.

Guelph officials announced earlier this month that outdoor facilities would remain open.

However, it did warn that the decision would be reversed if gathering limits exceeded 25 people.

Premier Doug Ford announced on Monday that all of Ontario will be placed into lockdown on December 26.

The decision will shut down all non-essential businesses in the province.
