Lead Writer, Travel

Fancy a little trip across the pond? You don't need to book a plane ticket to enjoy a little slice of jolly old England. A quaint fish and chips restaurant is hidden inside a double-decker bus, and its the most British thing ever. Leave your passports and bring your appetites to Ontario's Birdies Perch for a mini vacay.

Next time you're craving seafood, take a trip to this charming eatery for a totally unique experience.

Birdies Perch, located in Leamington, serves up a variety of dishes from inside a 1965 Bristol Lodekka double-decker bus.

The transformed bus will make you feel as though you're in London, England, and you'll definitely want to snap a few pictures at this Instagrammable spot.

The Yellow Perch is a must-try when visiting the bus for a sweet fish & chips experience.

The most popular item is the Perch Tacos. The dishes range from three-piece to five-piece and come with slaw, hand-cut fries, and garlicy tartar sauce.

Other items include a big Black Bean Burrito, vegan Goddess Salad Wrap, a beef sandwich called the Point Philly, hot dogs, chicken tacos, and more.

For a little something sweet, you can order a soft-serve snowcone with homemade fruit syrup.

Currently, the bus is open from Thursdays to Sundays as well as holidays. It closes for the season on Thanksgiving Monday, so be sure to get your fill before then.

Typically, there is a cute seating area on the upper deck of the bus. However, due to COVID-19, the bus is offering pick up only.

There are lots of picnic tables available onsite, surrounded by two acres of Carolinian trees.

The restaurant is on route to Point Pelee National Park, so it's a great place to stop and enjoy a meal on your next road trip.

You can also check out this cute taco bus for the perfect beach treat.
