A group of Toronto beachgoers suffered a close call on Sunday afternoon after a large piece of the Scarborough Bluffs cliff collapsed. According to Toronto Police, the terrifying incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. on August 23, near the famous visitor's spot. The shocking aftermath of the event was captured on video.

In the video, a cloud of dust can be seen sweeping across the beach as people run out of the water.

A group of onlookers appear moments away from being engulfed by the sandy debris as they gathered their things in a hurry.

Toronto police reported that no one was injured during the incident.

However, emergency services did warn people and boaters to stay clear of the area.

It is suspected that a large boulder toppled off the cliff into the water creating an "explosion-like sound."

Toronto Fire District Chief, Stephan Powell, told CBC that the structure of the bluffs is notoriously unstable and is cautioning residents not to climb on it or wander past its restricted areas.

"It's a sand structure. Stuff falls all the time. That's why we caution people not to climb it," Powell said.

TWN reported that fire crews and investigators were on scene for a short period of time.

The incident comes only weeks after a rockslide was spotted at the bluffs.

Toronto police warned residents on August 13 not to wander into popular hiking spots' restricted areas.

Photos of the incident showed the massive pile of rocks that had reportedly tumbled off the cliffs.

The area is also notorious for its hidden dangers.

First responders are often called to assist people who get stuck after ignoring the cliff's warning signs.
