The prime minister is not missing out on the Schitt’s Creek Emmys hype. After the Canadian sitcom won a record-breaking number of awards on Sunday night, Justin Trudeau had a sweet message for the cast and crew. It actually sounds like he’s a pretty big fan!

It was a proud night for Canada on September 20, as Ontario-based sitcom Schitt’s Creek took home a historic number of Emmy awards.

Recognized in all seven comedy categories, the show won trophies for best comedy, best comedy actor, best comedy actress and more.

Dan Levy took home Emmys for his role as a writer, director and supporting actor, coming to a total of nine record-breaking Emmys in total.

While it’s clear the judging panel are big fans of the show, it appears Canada’s prime minister is, too!

Tweeting on Sunday evening, Trudeau wrote, “Congratulations to the cast and crew of @SchittsCreek for their historic Emmy's sweep tonight - and for bringing such joy and humour to all our lives these past six years.”

Canadian-American icon Sandra Oh weighed in during the ceremony, tweeting, “Holy Schitt!!! One more!! Fantastic!”

She also joked about Levy’s hilariously Canadian acceptance speech, writing, “Dan Levy - a true Canadian, just apologized for winning!! Lol!!”

If that wasn’t enough, it seems the show has plenty of famous fans stretching across the globe.

Big names like Mariah Carey, Bette Midler and Paula Abdul all tweeted congratulatory messages to the cast and crew.

“Congrats @danjlevy!!!” wrote Carey, “You'll always be my David Rose xoxo.”

To celebrate their historic win, the cast held a socially distanced viewing party in Toronto.

Marking the occasion, they even shared a “Happy Day Alex & Davis" cake, a nod to one of the most iconic scenes from the show.
