'Schitt's Creek' Swept The Emmys Last Night & Dan Levy's Speech Was So Canadian (VIDEO)

Way to make Canada proud, eh! While the Primetime Emmy Awards were held virtually this year, the show was anything but disappointing. Canadian sitcom Schitt’s Creek swept up on Sunday night, winning every single award that it was nominated for. Better still, Dan Levy delivered the most Canadian acceptance speech ever.
The 72nd Emmy Awards was a record-breaking night for one very Canadian comedy show.
After the show won its first-ever Emmy on Saturday, when Lisa Parasyn and Jon Comerford were awarded Outstanding Casting For a Comedy Series, there were plenty more to come on Sunday.
By the time the ceremony was over, Schitt’s Creek had taken home an award for all seven comedy categories.
This included Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series.
Dan Levy was a big winner, too. He picked up an Emmy for writing, directing and acting in the sitcom.
The Toronto local actually went home with a whopping four awards for his involvement!

The seven statues picked up by Levy and the rest of the cast, combined with the two awards they won on Saturday night, took the team’s Emmy-count to nine.
This means the Ontario-shot show broke a record by becoming the most Emmy-awarded comedy in a single year.
According to Vanity Fair, this record was previously held by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, who picked up eight wins in total in 2019.
AwardsWatch reports that Schitt’s Creek is also the first show to win all four comedy-acting categories in one year.
Like a true Canadian, Dan Levy started his third acceptance speech with an apology.
“The internet’s about to turn on me. I’m so sorry!” he joked.
He also urged viewers, “Please go out and vote,” before apologizing again. “I’m so sorry to make this political.”
With the show wrapping up for the final time earlier this year, Levy said it would take a “really freaking good” idea for him to consider another season.
Fingers crossed, eh?
