The city of Toronto just got a glimpse of what it might look like when — or if — the Toronto Maple Leafs ever with the Stanley Cup.

Several TTC riders stepped onto a Line 1 subway car on Monday to find themselves sharing a ride with the NHL's top prize ahead of the upcoming NHL All-Star weekend.

Not only that, but a former Toronto Maple Leaf was there for the assist.

Tomas Kaberle, the longtime Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman, carried the Cup onto the subway as part of a Rogers-led promo ahead of the 2024 Rogers NHL All-Star Game. Kaberle and the Cup boarded the subway at Davisville Station and took the TTC down to Union, where the trophy was later set up for photos with fans.

Kaberle was a key member of the Leafs for over a decade but he didn't actually win a Stanley Cup until 2011, when he was traded to the Boston Bruins.

Still, the Czech-born hockey player considers Toronto his home and even owns a restaurant, Quanto Basta, in the 6ix.

The Maple Leafs haven't won the Stanley Cup since 1967 although the trophy does spend part of the year in Toronto, where it's kept at the Hockey Hall of Fame during the NHL season.

The Stanley Cup will be on hand early next month when NHL All-Star Weekend arrives in Toronto. The festivities will run from Thursday, February 1 until Saturday, February 3, and will include multiple games, a skills competition and a fan fair downtown.

Dozens of top NHL players will take part in the event along with Canadian celebs Justin Bieber, Will Arnett, Tate McRae and Michael Buble. The four celebs will take turns picking teams, so watch for Bieber to pick his pals Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, while Buble will likely load up on Vancouver Canucks.

You can learn more about the festivities on the NHL's website.
