TIFF Dropped This Year’s Film List & Here’s Who You Could Catch A Glimpse Of In The 6ix

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) just dropped its list of all the featured films they will be showing at this year's festival, and the casts sure pack a Hollywood punch.
TIFF selected a grand total of 32 star-studded films for this coming year ranging from award-winning Broadway adaptations to haunting psychological thrillers.
The film festival is once again hosting in-person screenings this year, and we've picked 11 celebrity-packed films so you can start making plans for which celebrities you're going to keep an eye out for.
Belfast
Why You Need To Watch It: Set in Northern Ireland during the late-1960s, Belfast, is a coming-of-age story that features stars like Jamie Dornan, Judi Dench, Ciarán Hinds, and Catríona Balfe.
Dear Evan Hansen
Why You Need To Watch It: Based on the Tony award-winning musical, Dear Evan Hansen, follows a high school senior and his journey after the suicide of a fellow classmate. This film is flooded with celebrities such as Ben Platt, Kaitlyn Dever, Amy Adams, Amandla Stenberg, Nik Dodani, Julianne Moore, and more.
Encounter
Why You Need To Watch It: After being nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for Sound of Metal, Riz Ahmed will be gracing the Toronto screens for Encounter. According to TIFF, Ahmed plays a decorated marine who goes on a rescue mission to save his young sons "from an inhuman threat."
Lakewood
Why You Need To Watch It: If you're looking for a more intense, thrilling film, this is your best bet this coming TIFF season. Lakewood, which stars Naomi Watts, is a frightening story of a mother trying to save her son from a school shooter.
Last Night In Soho
Why You Need To Watch It: If you couldn't get enough of Anya Taylor-Joy in Queen's Gambit, you can catch her again as one of the stars in Edgar Wright's Last Night In Soho, which is making its North American debut. According to IMBD, this haunting psycho-thriller follows a young woman who is somehow able to enter 1960s London, where she meets her idol (Anya Taylor-Joy).
Official Competition
Why You Need To Watch It: Antonio Banderas and Penelope Cruz are the two leads of this feature film. IMDB says Official Competition about a rich businessman who hires a famous filmmaker to help him out in making a movie.
The Electrical Life Of Louis Wain
Why You Need To Watch It: Benedict Cumberbatch (who has been to TIFF before) is known for his roles as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Strange, but in this production, he stars as an eccentric artist. Set in the 19th century, The Electrical Life of Louis Wain is fit for anyone who loves Victorian England -- and cat paintings, apparently.
The Eyes Of Tammy Faye
Why You Need To Watch It: You might not recognize Andrew Garfield in this flick, but he stars alongside Jessica Chastain, who plays the over-the-top televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker.
The Guilty
Why You Need To Watch It: You can swoon over Jake Gyllenhaal in this thrilling film (and maybe swoon over him in person if the celeb travels to the 6ix). The Guilty, directed by Antoine Fuqua, takes place over one morning at a 911 dispatch centre.
The Starling
Why You Need To Watch It: You can catch Melissa McCarthy starring alongside her former Bridesmaids co-star, Chris O'Dowd, in The Starling. This movie sounds like it will be a tearjerker, though, as TIFF describes it as a "bittersweet tale of a couple working their way toward the other side of grief."
Violet
Why You Need To Watch It: You could see Jason Bateman at this TIFF premiere since his sister, Justine Bateman, is the one directing it. Violet is Justine Bateman's feature debut and stars Olivia Munn, who is apparently a woman at a crossroads in this film.
