'The Politician' Season 2 Trailer Teases Tons Of Hilarious Drama & Familiar Faces

Ryan Murphy is back! After months of anticipation, The Politician season two trailer has finally arrived, and it teases all the drama we’ve been craving. The latest episodes will include plenty of familiar faces as they compete in the political race of a lifetime.

Back in September of 2019, the Murphy produced series made its way onto Netflix, captivating audiences with its star-studded cast and unbelievable plot.

The second season picks up where the first left off, as Payton begins his journey to dethrone Dede Standish in the race for New York Senate.

As a long time prominent political figure, Dede has popularity on her side, but Payton has the appeal of his youth, as well as one of Dede’s darkest secrets which he boldly hangs over her head.

Unfortunately for Payton, his mother Georgina makes a decision that threatens to upstage everything he’s worked for over the past several years, and in order to succeed, he’ll have to find his voice and learn how to use it to excite voters.

“Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan, The Politician offers a comedic and satirical glimpse into just what it takes to be a politician,” a synopsis on AV Club reads.

In typical Murphy fashion, cast members from some of his other popular shows will return to the series including Gwyneth Paltrow (Glee), Laura Dreyfuss (Glee), Judith Light (American Crime Story), and David Corenswet (Hollywood).

Other stars include Ben Platt (Pitch Perfect), Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody), Julia Schlaepfer (Charlie Says), Theo Germaine (Work In Progress), and Bette Midler (Hocus Pocus).

With so much drama unfolding in season one, viewers will have their hands full as it continues in season two.

In an interview with Collider, Murphy revealed that fans will likely have to wait several years before season three hits Netflix.

"I think where season 2 ends, what I would love to do is take a couple of years off and have Ben Platt get a little bit older for his final race," he said.

"That would obviously be a presidential race, right? That’s always what we had designed, and I think that’s what our plan is."

Several new releases will be making their way onto the streamer this weekend including Father Soldier Son, Feel the Beat, and Floor is Lava.
