Before you head out with your towel and flip flops, you better check Toronto's beach water quality updates to see if it's safe for you to take a dip.

This week, Hanlan's Point joined the list of beaches with unsafe waters due to high levels of E. coli.

The popular clothing-optional beach, which has seen big crowds this summer, exceeded the limit of bacteria deemed safe for swimming.

It joins a handful of other Toronto beaches that are not currently swimmable due to E. coli.

According to the City of Toronto, record-high water levels have impacted the safety conditions at many of Toronto's beaches.

The City warns that affected beaches may have limited lifeguard supervision, or closed altogether.

Conditions are updated daily on the City's SwimGuide, so to avoid a ruined beach day, you know where to look.
