Nearly 100 Toronto Flights Had Confirmed COVID-19 Cases This Month

Cases were discovered on both domestic and international flights.

Contributing Writer

COVID-19 cases are continuing to slowly rise across the province, and some are being reported on Toronto flights.

According to the Government of Canada, nearly 100 flights travelling through Toronto have been confirmed to be carrying positive passengers since August 1.

Out of those flights, 36 were reported to be domestic and 58 were international.*

The flights both returned to and departed from Toronto, and departed from places including Dallas, London, Paris, and New York.

"Passenger transport is considered affected if a person with COVID-19 travelled on it while they were considered infectious. This means they're potentially able to spread COVID-19 to others," an excerpt from the government's website reads.

Canada had reopened its borders to fully vaccinated Americans on August 9, allowing in tourists for the first time in over a year.
