Vaughan Soccer Game Leads To 11 COVID-19 Cases & 8 Are From Toronto

A new cluster of cases is being reported by York Region Public Health after two indoor soccer games took place in Vaughan.

The games took place at TRIO Sportsplex and Event Centre on November 11 and November 15.

The public health notice states that 20 to 25 players participated, and 11 cases have now been confirmed.

While the group wore masks during play, masks were not worn in the change rooms. York Region Public Health

Of the 11 cases, only one of them is local to York Region. Eight others are from Toronto, one is from Simcoe-Muskoka, and one is from Peel Region.

The health authority says that all individuals identified as being at high risk of exposure have been advised on the 14-day self-isolation requirements.

This comes after several businesses at Vaughan Mills were fined for violating COVID-19 rules on Black Friday.

Retailers — including Cellicon, Designer Depot, and Haight Ashbury — were each forced to pay $880. Vaughan Mills itself also had to pay the same fine.
