A wine-filled Ontario transport truck blocked off a section of the 401 on Thursday evening, after colliding with an SUV.

According to OPP, the tanker rolled over onto the 401 between Highway 6 South and Guelph Line just before 10:00 p.m.

It was reported by police that the transport truck blocked both eastbound and westbound lanes and sent debris flying everywhere.

Only minor injuries were reported as a result of the accident.

However, the driver of the SUV was later charged with impaired driving after refusing to provide a breath sample.

Cleanup efforts were extensive and eastbound lanes did not reopen until around 9:00 a.m. on Friday morning.

The clearing process was hindered by overnight snowfall, which required the use of snowplows.

Police stated that the investigation is ongoing.
