BC and Alberta's spring weather forecast dropped and 'wintry weather' isn't over yet

Spring has arrived, but don't pack away your winter coat just yet! The spring 2025 weather forecast for B.C. and Alberta has dropped, and it looks like Western Canada is in for a bit of a messy season.

According to The Weather Network’s latest seasonal outlook, a "temperature roller coaster" will define the months ahead in Canada. Unfortunately for B.C. and much of Alberta, that means colder-than-normal temperatures are expected to start things out.

While parts of B.C.'s South Coast have already seen hints of spring, TWN predicts a "slower than normal progression" into the warmer months, especially through the first half of the season. Expect chillier-than-usual temperatures and above-average precipitation in April, so keep those rain boots handy!

The upside? Ski season could end on a high note, with snow in the mountains before conditions begin to level out in May, bringing temperatures and precipitation closer to normal.

Over in Alberta, it's shaping up to be a chilly few weeks as well. "Temperatures during the remainder of March and April will be changeable, but overall they are expected to tip to the chilly side of seasonal across the province, and that will include some wintry weather," TWN reports.

But don't worry — by May, things should start to warm up, with near-normal or even above-normal temperatures expected across the province, including cities like Edmonton and Calgary.

So, brace yourself for a rainy and cold April in both provinces, but don't lose hope — May is looking much more promising!
