BC's Third Jackpot Winner In 2020 Just Won $24 Million & Then Called His Boss To Retire

“It’s the dream you never think is going to come true.”
Staff Writer

B.C. has had a lot of luck recently. The province's third Lotto 6/49 jackpot winner was just announced and he's about to be living out his wildest dreams. Taking home over $24 million, this B.C. Lotto 6/49 winner is officially retiring like an absolute boss.

Winning the lottery is something most of us dream of.

And how could you not? Winning millions of dollars is basically the best-case scenario.

From paying off student loans to finally buying that luxurious mansion, you could rule the world and do whatever you wanted.

Ronald Cumiskey got the massive jackpot on Wednesday, May 27 and he won a total of $24,369,459.

According to an email sent to Narcity from BCLC, Cumiskey checked his tickets right before bed after realizing that he totally forgot to check it on the day of the draw.

When he pulled up his phone to compare the numbers he quickly realized he had just won big.

“I checked it two, three, four times before it finally sank in,” said Cumiskey the a BCLC press release.

“It’s the dream you never think is going to come true.”

The shocked millionaire then went to tell his roommate and girlfriend about the win.

His next move was to call his boss of over 20 years.

“I said ‘Frank – I’m retiring! You know that (lottery) winner in Aldergrove? That’s me,” said Cumiskey to BCLC.

This is a lot of money and the new millionaire knows exactly how he's going to spend it. He’s always wanted to visit Pearl Harbour and the East Coast of Canada so there are some definite travel plans in his future.

But first, he’s going to take care of those he loves.

“I want to spend it helping the people that are close to me and have been there for me through my life,” he said.

Cumiskey is the third B.C. resident to win the Lotto 6/49 jackpot in 2020.

The next Lotto 6/49 draws will be held on Wednesday, June 3 and Saturday, June 6.
