A messy fall storm is hitting B.C., with high winds, alpine snow, and heavy rain in the forecast. Multiple weather warnings are in place across the province, with the worst of the weather expected on Monday.

The Weather Network said that wind gusts could get up to 90 km/h in some areas, and 50 mm of rain is possible for parts of Vancouver Island. Snowfall could be significant in parts of the province, ranging from 5 cm - 30 cm for the mountain passes.

Luckily this could mean good news for ski resorts, with alpine snow coming in.

Conditions could make for trickier travel though. TWN said that "heavy rainfall and snowfall rates are expected to push inland Monday morning, with snow expected along most highway passes, creating challenging driving conditions."

The Coast Mountains are expected to get "heavy alpine snow" and the strong gusts are supposed to hit the coast early Monday. Greater Victoria is predicted to get wind gusts of 90 km/h, and the Lower Mainland is expected to get 70-80 km/h gusts.

TWN warned that power outages may occur because of the storm.

Environment Canada has issued weather alerts for areas around the province, including for Metro Vancouver. The special weather statement said that "strong winds and heavy rain" are forecasted for Monday.

"A potent storm system is bringing heavy rain to the south coast this morning. As the system quickly exits the region, rain will begin to ease near midday," it said.
