BC Says The Amount Of 20 to 29-Year-Olds Getting COVID-19 Just Skyrocketed

Young people are getting COVID-19 in B.C. way faster than anyone else.

On Thursday, August 13, B.C. shared new modelling data that reflects badly on the 20 to 29-year-old age group — they make up 17% or 18% of cases and when it's shown on a graph it appears to skyrocket straight up.

We are seeing a disproportionate increase in young adults

"We've started to see a rapid increase in the last few weeks in younger people," said Dr. Bonnie Henry.

She says it's linked primarily to "exposure events" like social gatherings, parties and get-togethers.
