If you want some summer fun, this lazy river is the perfect day trip away from the city. You can float down the emerald green waters here, surrounded by lush forest.

Set in Maple Ridge, this river and swimming hole are about an hour away from Vancouver. It's a go-to spot in the summer to cool off with a swim in the picturesque waters or a river float.

Davidson's Pool is a calm spot along The Alouette River, which is often a go-to for floating. According to the Maple Ridge website though, visitors should be careful, because the river moves fast and can be extremely dangerous.

After your float (depending on where you start along the river) you can hang out in the tranquil pool, just relaxing and soaking in the nature. If you're not up for a float this also just makes a great swimming hole. After cooling off in the water there's lots of rocky areas along the shoreline where you can lay out to warm up.

If you're up for it though you can also head down the river, letting it float you away. Keep in mind that it's rocky, so make sure to go prepared and float responsibly.

If you want the perfect activity on a warm summers day, head out to Maple Ridge — and don't forget the floaty!
